Red Star Quilt 2

I've had lovely sewy day today and got half of the ohio stars completed for my red star quilt and the rest cut out and HST's made for them. I'm undecided about the way to quilt, whether to get it long arm quilted, or whether to quilt as I go. The piece of fabric I bought in Berwick for the backing isn't quite bit enough so I will need to put a piece of different fabric in, which isn't a problem, or quilt as I go and do some of them with the fabric I bought and some with the bits I have left over from making the blocks. Decisions, decisions.

Knitting Lace with Beads

Louise and I made a bookmark each using lace designs we made up as we went along and beads. The beads are hard to see in mine, it's the green one but they are there. Louise's are also hard to see as the pins for blocking had bobbles on that look like beads. These didn't take long and we had fun working out what lace stitches to use and where.

This photo shows St Abb's head. The hubs and I walked from St Abb's harbour along the coastal path to the lighthouse and then back along the Loch. It was cold and bracing but absolutely lovely. We walked for a couple of hours, met a very few walkers while we were out and then met up with Louise in her shop before we made our way back to Berwick Upon Tweed on the bus. I love this part of the world and can't wait to come back here. These few days I have spend here have relaxed and revitalised me. Back to work on Monday!

Knitting With Wire and Beads

This is a memorial to 189 sailors who lost their lives at sea during a storm in the 19th century. It shows the wives and children of missing sailors looking out to sea for them. St Abb's Harbour is in the background.



I couldn't resist taking a photo of these beautiful snowdrops near Louise's shop. Such a herald of spring, this was just a few, there were lots in this spot all nodding their heads in the breeze.

Today's makes, mine were the two in the middle. I have never knitted with wire or beads before so this was a really useful morning. I will definitely be doing this again.

Knitting Retreat at St Abb's.

This is lovely, beautiful scenery, lots of knitting and learning new things. I'm only here until Thursday, wish it was longer. I've just got back from a lovely walk, very windy but gorgeous. Louise is the perfect hostess and her wool shop is fab. Today I have made a scarf using only my hands and yarn, no needles. I have learnt a couple of different cast ons and how to do double knitting, off to the pub for dinner tonight.

Red Star Quilt

I've has this idea in my head for ages. I wanted a red quilt for our room but couldn't find one that I liked. I wanted quite a lot of cream and different reds floating in it. Anyway, I went shopping to Bramble Patch yesterday and bought about 10 fat quarters and some yardage in cream and made a start today. There is always a risk when I have an idea in my head incase it doesn't come out as I planned. I'm loving it so far, let's hope I carry on loving it. I'm taking photos as I go along in the hope that if it does end up being gorgeous I can post a tutorial on this blog.

Damask Knit-a-Long 3 - Finished

Tis done. I love it and will be wearing it a lot, especially as the weather is so cold. The links to the pattern, yarn and KAL are on previous posts about the Damask.

The hubs and I went up to Bramble Patch this morning, I love the way even in temperatures of minus 4 there are still quilts hanging on a line outside the shop. Anyway, I spent lots on fabric for the red star quilt I'm about to start and three fat quarters of fabric to make a drawstring bag. Faberoo!

Damask Knit-a-Long 2

Progress made on this lovely shawl. Despite the way it looks, i.e. difficult, it really hasn't been too hard. The nupps got me for a while but providing I kept the loops loose they worked out fine. I'm looking forward to finishing it and blocking it. This is definitely a shawl I'll make again. If you want to join in with the KAL then here is the link to the Ravelry group.
