Weekend Away

No sewing this weekend. I visited my sister in Derbyshire and had a lovely walk at Youlgrave along the river. Not a totally fabric free weekend as we ordered some Cloud 9 fabric for placemats for Alice.

Butchers Apron

Using some of the Clarke and Clarke fabric I bought on Friday I made a butchers apron. Very simple to make and lovely I think in this stripe, not quite the butchers blue and white but stripey all the same. I used the basic butchers apron pattern in this lovely book the pattern seemed a little big but I stuck with it. It does wrap a long way around the back but it's fine. I have some more fabric for an apron, it has chickens and ducks on it. Can't wait to make it up. O.K. going to stop now with a glass of wine and my knitting.

Sock Yarn Blanket

Being a knitter of a great many socks, I have ended up with a great many almost finished balls of sock yarn. What better way to use them to to make a blanket. This will be a very long term project. Inspiration came from Shelley's blanket It's a very easy thing to do, the squares go quickly but as they are quite small it will take a while to cover my lap let alone a bed. Anyway a job begun is a job almost done.

There's More!

As I thought the pictures seem always to end up at the top of the post. If anyone knows how to put them in the middle of text, please let me know, I know I'm probably being stupid. Anyway here is the next item hot off the machine for today, This too is going on Ebay, so pretty, I got the fabric from 'Dreams Come True' on Etsy, its come all the way from Hong Kong.

Busy Sunday

I only seem to be able to blog at the weekends, too busy during the week. So here goes with the latest. Friday I went to Stitch and Craft at Olympia, to be honest, I was disappointed. Maybe because I am so used the hugeness of Knitting and Stitching at Ally Pally, there wasn't much fabric or much yarn, only a handful of stands. Usefully though Fabrics Galore were there so I was able to get some fabric from them. I also found ribbons, buttons, some yarn for a mohair shawl and a gorgeous cross stitch kit of chickens.
Yesterday I made four zippy pouches for sock knitting kits. I've run out and have none for sale on Ebay.
Today I put the kits together and made a zippy pouch for Tom's tablet, I measured carefully but didn't take into account the zip would make the opening narrower than the width of the pouch, so I really hope it fits. I've used the left over bits from Anna's baby quilt, only because he saw it and said he wanted it. C'est la vie.
I don't think the pictures are going to end up on this post in the places I want them to be in. Going to stop here as I have more to write and show.

Wow!

One parcel sent off and two waiting to go. I can't get over that people like my sock kits so much that they are paying the Buy It Now price and not going through the auction to buy them. I now have no sock kits on Ebay and none ready to go as I have run out of needles. I'm out at Olympia on Friday so Saturday I'll be at my sewing machine. Oh dear :-)

Red and Blue Elephant Baby Quilt

Second post of the day. I pieced together Anna's baby quilt today. I love the elephants and the freshness of the pattern and colours in this quilt. I'm off to Olympia on Friday so hopefully I'll find the perfect backing for it. It is such a treat to be able to get on with my projects in my new conservatory, so roomy and light. Then once I had finished and cleared it all away we had a roast dinner and were able to look up and see the moon while we ate. It's the simple things.
